Which Way Do I Face?

Dear Reader,

Right now at this time in my life, I see myself in God's mighty hand, a safe place where I can curl up , sleep, and rest.  But where is the face I seek?  Do I stand on God's great hand facing away from Him?  Do I look at what is before me unobstructed ready to go forward?  Is that wise?  Look again.  I am facing away from God, even though I am safe in His hand!  How often I tend to move before He does.

If I turn around; however, I can see His face.  Am I facing backward?  To where I have been?  Seeing the past?  No!  I am putting my trust in God!  If my future view is obscured because His face is so large I can't see beyond it, let me delight in knowing He has already been where I will sometime go!  Let me take joy in the beauty of His smile, and trust in His eyes filled with love!  Shouldn't I wait on the Lord to decide when it is best to move forward?  In the meantime, I should just rest.

Dear Reader, don't run, don't be misled that our adventures awaits where the view is unimpeded and the vista magnificent!  Storms could easily arise out of nowhere and darkness could fall on the earth.  Will we ever want to be in a position to look 'back' and see God?  I don't think so!

He will let us see what we need to, but I want Him to be before me, yet cradling me in the safety of His palm!  I will move by faith, not by sight.  How about you?

"The Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you."  Numbers 6:25

  2. Deirdre,

I have many favorite passages in the Bible, and this verse of scripture is one of them. So true are your words. They are a signpost for me and everyone else that desires to live out God's purpose for their lives.

I love the sentence you wrote with "I should just rest." Those are mighty words because a person of faith that learns to rest in times when it seems he or she is lost is a mighty testament to faith in God. Yet, t is the hardest thing to learn because that rest that you speak of takes trust and faith.

As I sit here writing my comment, I see you resting in the everlasting arms of God, and I know He will not disappoint you.

The way that He has prepared for you may be new, but one thing you can rest in is that God is with you. You can rely on Him. You are never alone.

Thank you for sharing a piece of yourself. This article has encouraged me and it inspired me to keep moving. So, stay with it my friend. You are blessed.

    Shalom my friend,
    Patricia

    1. I thank you for your vision, Pat. I need rest more than I allow, but I'm working on it! I am very excited to be on the new path He has led me, and I seek His face and want to hold on to His hand as He leads me. I love you, Pat. God bless!

  3. I really loved this and have pondered the same dilemma for years. I crave doing God's will for my life but don't know what He wants and He is late in telling me. I learned something from this. Maybe all He wants is for me to be me. So happy to see you posting again.

    Love, Micki

    1. My dear Micki, God's timing is always right, He is never late. Perhaps we are too anxious and want to see results immediately. God looks at the big picture, our lifetime, knowing that every single moment and everyone we meet must all be in place first. While we are waiting we are called to trust. Not always easy, but always necessary. I think He would love for all of us to just be ourselves, He made us individually, unlike anyone else, we should rejoice in our uniqueness. I am happy to be back. Love you too!

  4. Hello Deirdre,

I hope you are doing fine. I've missed you.

I love this! There's room for lots of reflective thought here. I love the questions so that we'll have to take time to think about the answers and where we are in terms of our own personal lives (where your great probing is concerned).

We have to lean on HIM and trust in his plan for our lives.

Thanks for making us think on these things today, Deirdre.

  8. Dear Deirdre, I'm so happy to see many friends here! It's a wonderful post, and I certainly agree that sight is deceitful whereas faith is not. Outside faith, truth is relative. Absolute truth lies in faith. I wish I had your strength not to get lost in meandering roads.
