Give Thanks in the Storm

Thank God today for whatever is troubling you the most.  It may seem a crazy thing to do, and the world would certainly attest to that!  Why would you thank Him for your sickness or poverty or loss of a loved one?  Not because you’re grateful for the actual circumstance that brought you to your knees.  No!  But for the strength you will gain and the wisdom you will receive when you praise Him in your storm.

He’s making you a light in the dark for another weary soul.  He’s instilling compassion in your heart, enough to overcome the pain and bitterness.  When you are able to pull someone else up from the depths of despair because you have been there, two hearts that may never have met are beating as one, glorifying the Lord.  And joy returns once again.

“Two are better than one because a a good return comes when two work together.  If one of them falls, the other can help him up.  But who will help the pitiful person who falls down alone?”  Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 Voice

  1. I never looked at it quite this way but after reading your words, it makes perfect sense. Thank you for showing me yet another thing to praise God for an enriching my relationship with Him even further.

    1. Thank you, Micki. Whatever doesn't make sense to the world makes perfect sense in the Kingdom of God. No matter what, we should praise. It seems to take the pain away, divinely so. Love, Deirdre

  2. Hi,
One of the hardest things to do is be thankful in the mist of a storm. I know because I've been there many times. The waves rise high and the wind rages and in the middle of all this, I am expected to be still and trust God. To be thankful that He is there.

I have to admit that it takes me some time to get there, to reach that point where I let go and let God. But whenever I do give up trying to make things happen in my timing, I experience what you have said here. I experience His salvation and a deep calm; He brings me through.

Thank you for this Word of Faith that inspires and encourages those of us who walkby faith.
    Shalom,
    Patricia

    1. Dear Pat, believe me, there are days where I actually fight praising during a storm, even though I know it heals me. I try my best to start right away now. He will always bring us through. Don't you just love His compassion? Love you, Pat.

    1. Dear Susan, I am praying for your strength. The great thing is that we go THROUGH a storm, we don't have to stay there! And remember, He who loves you most has already been there! Thank you so much for stopping by! Love, Deirdre
